He a professional science writer with a 20+ years of experience as a university public information officer. In freelance science writing, he has specific interests in microbial and landscape ecology, but he has written professionally in his university employment about virtually every field of research from quantum mechanics and cosmology to linguistics, history and philosophy. He is also a creative writer, with an MFA in poetry from Cornell University, and winner of a National Endowment for the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship in 1982.
